Melbourne Datathon Update 1
Thanks for registering for the Melbourne Datathon which is now just 3 weeks away. It’s shaping up to be a great event; we have over 600 registrations and a new prize category introduced. Please read on for more info…Team Forming
Don’t worry if as yet you are not part of a team as there are 350 others in the same boat and looking to meet you. To facilitate things, we have set up a discussion group on Fleep that you can join to find team mates. It’s easy to register – just click here. When registered, you can read introductions and message people who you would like to team up with. We are pretty relaxed about team sizes!

General Communication
Please join the Fleep general discussion to ask questions and generally be kept informed of what’s occurring. Data Science Melbourne are also putting on a several other related events throughout the course datathon so please make sure you have joined the meetup group to stay informed.

New Data2App Prize Category
Take your insights to the next step by developing tools where end users can make use of them. For more information on how this works, see the bottom of the FAQ section on the event web page.

Prizes
Thanks to our sponsors ANZ,  iSelectKPMG Rubix, this years prize pool has grown considerably. Don’t forget we have created awards for student only teams with ANZ offering some automatic internships. It’s more about the learning than winning, so we would encourage students to join up with experienced professionals if possible.

Getting the Data
We realise not everyone can give up their weekends, so attending the hackdays is not compulsory. You can still participate though and can get the data at lunch time on the Tue 24th July from Crypton Analyitcs, just at the top of Swanston St. by Melbourne Uni.There will also be a second chance from  5pm that day at Zendesk which is on the corner of Queen & Collins (+ the further chance to find team mates over beer & pizza !!). Remember to bring your laptops.

For all the latest info, please keep an eye on the event web page which will be updated as the last details are finalised.
