Melbourne Data Science Week 2018

Data Science Melbourne (DSM) is now the 5th largest data science community in the world, behind Silicon Valley, New York, Washington DC and Toronto. This year we are putting on events to continue building this community whilst hopefully helping the citiy’s transport network and creating a meeting point for employers and potential employees.

  For those who want hands on Data Science training there will be 9 full day tutorials on Mon, Tue & Thu @ KPMG.

 On Wednesday we will have a full day ‘Hackers Helping Melbourne Symposium’ @ nab arena. The theme of the day is two fold:

  • Helping those transitioning into data science with advisory talks, and the opportunity to put themselves in the shop window by presenting their work
  • Pitch day for the 2018 Melbourne Datathon (the World’s Biggest*). Over 190 teams have had 2 months to analyse the MYKI data and will present their findings

The Symposium will be of interest to many including but not limited to;

  • participantssee what others discovered in the data
  • recruiterswe have a student team only section
  • job seekersthe ultimate networking event. Companies including KPMG, iSelect & ANZ will be there looking for talent
  • companies after consultants – over 40 corporate teams entered
  • governmentsee what can be achieved by releasing data to enthusiastic data scientists

If you want the opportunity to take on any of the contestants seeking employment or internships, then please fill out this form

Melbourne Data Science week and the Melbourne Datathon are co-ordinated by the DSM meetup group  for the community. The cost of this event is kept low thanks to the fantastic support we receive and any proceeds will be used to help continue organising events.

We thank everyone for their support and hope you enjoy the week.
